Prayer For The DayI think Autumn very definitely arrived today. The mornings are darker, there is a chill in the air, the leaves are beginning to fall, and we are starting to see just a bit more rain.

The seasons are changing and it reminds us that time moves on.  So as we begin this new week, and as you dry off, I would like set you a challenge. It’s not an easy challenge but just for today, for the next 24 hours could you try and look on the bright side. Be kind, cheerful, agreeable. Try your hardest to be caring and understanding. Be your best, talk positively, look for the good side of things. Praise people for what they do and don’t criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. If someone does something kind for you, say thanks. My challenge to you is to ask could try all of this for one day? For 24 hours could you encourage yourself to see the positives in your life.

Ok, you’re sitting there with wet socks, but at least you have socks on your feet and a roof over your head! Maybe your lunch got a little wet today but at least you have food to eat and clean water to drink. Sometimes life is about perspective and when we practice gratitude, even in the face of difficulty like today, it slowly starts to change us for the better. If for the next 24 hours you were to try and only think positively, who knows, it might just change your whole perspective and give you an entirely new outlook on life."

God,  we ask you to give us the strength to try and see the good in ourselves and others, give us the energy needed to ignore the negatives and embrace the positives.

Today, we pray for a good day, Amen.
